## Celine pour un mariage de juin
Celine pour un mariage de juin
June is not one climate. A ceremony in Kyoto at eleven in the morning is twenty-eight degrees with seventy percent humidity. A garden reception in Bordeaux at seven in the evening is nineteen degrees with a breeze that requires sleeves. The same invitation, four different air temperatures, and Celine has an answer for each.
The work here is not about trends. It is about cloth weight, sleeve construction, and whether your shoes can survive grass. What follows is a wardrobe in four parts, calibrated to the thermometer.
Trente degrés : la robe en popeline
When the ceremony is outdoors and the sun is overhead, reach for Celine's sleeveless popeline shirt dress. The one from summer 2024, cut long through the body with a concealed button placket and a back vent that opens when you sit. Popeline is cotton woven tight enough to hold its shape but light enough to breathe. The dress has no waist seam, which means no line cutting across your torso when you lean back in a folding chair.
Pair it with the maison's flat leather sandals — the style with two straps and a single gold hardware detail at the ankle. Not the slide. The slide will come off in grass. Bring a structured canvas tote, not a clutch. You will need somewhere to put the program, a bottle of water, and eventually your sunglasses when the reception moves indoors.
Skip jewellery above the collarbone. The dress has enough going on at the shoulder line. A thin gold cuff on the wrist is sufficient.
Vingt-cinq degrés : le pantalon en lin
This is the range where you can wear trousers without regretting it by cocktail hour. Celine's wide-leg linen pant from the spring 2023 collection works because the rise sits at the natural waist and the leg is cut wide enough to allow air to move. Linen wrinkles. This is not a flaw. It is the material performing as designed.
On top, the silk charmeuse blouse with a mandarin collar and three-quarter sleeves. Tuck it in loosely at the front, leave the back out. The blouse has enough weight to stay in place without a belt, which you do not need. Belts at summer weddings are a miscalculation.
For shoes, the block-heel pump in calfskin. Five centimetres, not eight. You will be standing on a lawn or cobblestones for at least ninety minutes. The Celine pump has a platform under the toe that redistributes the pitch, which matters more than the height of the heel itself.
Carry the small Triomphe bag in tan leather. The chain strap can be worn short on the shoulder or long across the body. When you sit for dinner, loop it over the back of your chair. Do not put it on the floor.
Vingt degrés : la veste en gabardine
At this temperature, you need a third layer that does not read as outerwear. Celine's cropped gabardine jacket, the one with a single button and sharp shoulders, works over a slip dress in ivory silk. The jacket is structured enough to carry the outfit but light enough that you will not overheat indoors.
The slip dress should be simple. No lace, no embroidery, no cowl neck. Celine makes one in a bias-cut silk that falls straight from the bust without clinging. The hem should hit mid-calf. Anything shorter and the proportions will fight with the cropped jacket. Anything longer and you risk looking like you are dressed for a different decade.
Shoes: the slingback in patent leather. The exposed heel keeps the look from feeling too covered. Patent holds up better than suede if there is damp grass or an unexpected shower.
One piece of jewellery: the Celine knot earrings in gold. They are large enough to register from across a room but not so large that they move when you turn your head.
Quinze degrés : le manteau léger
If the wedding is in the evening or in a region where June still requires a coat, bring Celine's lightweight wool coat — the one with a relaxed shoulder and no lapel. It is cut long enough to cover a dress but not so long that it drags. The fabric is a wool-cashmere blend that breathes better than pure cashmere and holds its shape better than pure wool.
Underneath, a long-sleeved dress in crêpe. Celine's column dress with a high neck and a back slit works because it has no waist definition, which means the coat can sit over it without bunching. The dress is dark enough to work for evening but not black. Charcoal, navy, or deep olive.
Closed-toe pumps in suede. At this temperature, your feet will stay dry. A small structured bag in leather, not fabric. The Celine frame bag in burgundy or forest green.
Ce qu'il ne faut pas faire
Do not wear the Celine logo belt. The Triomphe buckle is large and the belt is designed for trousers, not dresses. Do not wear the oversized sunglasses during the ceremony, even if the sun is in your eyes. Do not bring a bag large enough to double as luggage. Do not wear the Teen Triomphe — it is too casual for a wedding. Do not wear sandals with an evening coat. Do not assume that because something works in the lookbook, it will work on a lawn in June.
