The woven surface reads formal enough for the church steps, casual enough for the vineyard reception. Pair it with a sleeveless poplin shirtdress in ecru, cut long and straight. Fendi's poplin is calendered, which means it has a slight sheen without looking synthetic. The fabric breathes. It does not cling to the lower back when you sit.

On the feet: the Promenade slingback in nude patent, five-centimetre block heel. Patent because suede darkens with moisture, and you will be standing on grass. The block heel because anything thinner will sink. Over the shoulders, if the ceremony runs past 19h00, a silk-cotton cardigan from the spring 2024 collection, the one with the tonal FF jacquard at the cuffs. It weighs almost nothing. It sits at the hip and does not interfere with movement. Fendi released this exact style again in 2023, same hardware, same magnetic closure. If you can find the vintage version, the leather has already broken in.

A tailored jumpsuit in wool-silk gabardine, ivory or stone. Fendi cut several versions for pre-fall 2024; the best has a straight leg and a concealed back zip. The waistband is grosgrain-backed, which prevents rolling. The weight of the fabric — roughly 240 grams per metre — is enough to drape cleanly but not so heavy that it traps heat indoors. At the neck, a silk scarf in archival Pequin stripe, knotted once and left loose. The scarf is a tool: it covers bare shoulders in the basilica, comes off for the dinner, goes back on if the terrace turns cold.

Shoes: the Colibri slingback in black leather, eight-centimetre heel. The vamp is cut high, which makes the foot look longer and provides actual support across the instep.

This is the hardest scenario. The stone chapel will be cool. The garden aperitif will be warm. The tented dinner will depend entirely on whether the hosts rented heaters, and you will not know until you arrive. The solution is not layering — it is choosing a single piece that works across the range.

Fendi's wool-cashmere suiting, mid-weight. Specifically: the single-breasted blazer and wide-leg trouser from fall 2023, in charcoal or deep navy. The jacket is unlined through the body, lined only at the sleeves, which means it breathes. The shoulder is natural, not padded. You can wear it open or closed. Underneath: a silk shell in the same tonal family, no print. The trouser has a flat front and falls straight from the hip. The hem should hit just above the ankle bone.

Carry the medium Peekaboo in smooth calfskin, not patent. The day-to-evening test for this bag is simple: does it look correct next to both a trouser and a cocktail dress? Fendi's does. On the feet, the First loafer in black leather with a two-centimetre stacked heel. A loafer at a wedding reads as intentional, not casual, if the rest of the outfit is formal.

18°C, pluie possible — Bretagne, cérémonie en fin d'après-midi

Fendi's technical duchess satin — the fabric used in some of the pre-fall coats — is finished with a water-resistant treatment that does not announce itself. It looks like regular satin. It is not. A knee-length coat in this fabric, cut straight with a belt, will shed light rain and still photograph well. Underneath: a slip dress in silk crepe, not charmeuse. Crepe has texture; it does not show every seam of your undergarments.

The Peekaboo Soft in nappa, small size, worn in the crook of the arm. Nappa tolerates moisture better than suede and ages more gracefully than patent. Closed-toe shoes are not optional here. The Promenade pump in black leather, block heel, almond toe. Bring a second pair of shoes in the car — something flat, something waterproof — but do not wear them to the ceremony.

Do not bring a bag you cannot set down on grass, gravel, or a cocktail table. Do not wear a heel you cannot walk on for three consecutive hours. Do not choose an outfit that requires adjustment — straps that slip, waistbands that dig, hems that catch underfoot. A June wedding is six hours minimum, often closer to nine.
