## Quatre tenues, quatre températures

Quatre tenues, quatre températures
June weddings demand a wardrobe that moves. Morning chapel in Normandy requires wool. Afternoon garden in Provence does not. The ceremony may begin at eighteen degrees; by the reception, it is twenty-eight. Acne Studios built a vocabulary for this: tailoring that breathes, knits that hold their line in heat, outerwear that folds into a tote without complaint.
The maison does not do occasion dressing in the traditional sense. There are no satin lapels, no grosgrain trim. What it offers instead is structure that photographs well and fabrics that forgive a long day. Four looks follow, each calibrated to a different point on the thermometer.
15–18°C: La veste structure tout
Start with the double-breasted blazer in grey wool flannel. Acne Studios cuts this with a nipped waist and a longer body than most houses dare. The shoulder is natural, which means it will not fight a coat if the morning turns cold. Wear it over a white poplin shirt—collar open, no tie—and grey wool trousers with a pressed centre crease. The trousers should break once at the instep.
Shoes: black leather derbies with a commando sole. Acne Studios makes a pair with a slightly squared toe that reads formal without costume. If rain threatens, this sole will hold.
The blazer does all the work here. It is enough ceremony for a mairie, enough edge for a château. When you sit for dinner, unbutton it. When you stand for photographs, button the top only. The flannel has weight, which means it will not wrinkle across the back when you lean against stone walls between courses.
19–22°C: Le tricot remplace la veste
At this range, a jacket becomes optional. Acne Studios' fine-gauge merino crewneck in navy or charcoal holds the same visual weight as tailoring but allows air to move. The knit should be slim but not tight—fitted enough that a shirt collar sits cleanly beneath it, loose enough that you are not pulling at the hem all afternoon.
Pair it with the same grey wool trousers from the first look, or switch to cotton twill in stone if the venue is a garden. The trousers should still have a crease. A knit does not excuse a soft silhouette below the waist.
Shirt: white or pale blue poplin, worn underneath the knit with the collar visible. Roll the sleeves to just below the elbow once the ceremony ends. Shoes remain leather—derbies or loafers in tan or dark brown. Acne Studios' loafer has a slight taper and a stacked leather sole that works on grass or gravel.
This is the range where most men get it wrong. They abandon structure entirely and arrive in linen that looks like sleepwear. A fine knit holds you in place without adding heat. It is the middle path.
23–26°C: La chemise seule
Here, the shirt carries everything. Acne Studios makes a camp-collar shirt in cotton poplin that is cut like tailoring—darts at the back, a shaped waist, sleeves that taper to the cuff. Wear it in white, untucked, over slim cotton trousers in navy or olive. The trousers should still be tailored. Heat is not an excuse for elasticated waists.
The camp collar is not casual. It is a collar that was designed to be worn open, which makes it more intentional than a dress shirt with the top button undone. The short sleeve is acceptable here if the shirt is structured. Acne Studios' version has enough weight in the cotton that it does not cling or billow.
Shoes: suede loafers in tobacco or grey. No socks, but only if your ankles and the backs of your shoes are prepared for it. A blister at cocktail hour will undo all prior decisions.
This look requires confidence. You are wearing fewer pieces, which means each one is visible. The fit must be exact. The shirt must be pressed.
27°C et plus: Le lin, enfin
Only now does linen enter. Acne Studios' linen trousers are cut slim through the thigh with a straight leg and a slightly cropped hem. Pair them with a white cotton shirt—not linen, cotton—worn open at the collar, sleeves rolled. The shirt provides structure that linen alone cannot.
If the venue requires a layer, add a lightweight cotton blazer in stone or sand, unlined. Wear it on your shoulders during photographs, carry it the rest of the time. Shoes: leather sandals with a back strap, or minimal leather sneakers in white if the venue is a vineyard or coastal.
Linen wrinkles. This is not a flaw. But it wrinkles well only if the garment is cut properly. Acne Studios builds enough room through the seat and thigh that the fabric does not pull into hard creases when you sit.
Ce qu'il ne faut pas faire
Do not wear a knit tie. Do not wear a blazer in linen—it will look like you slept in a train. Do not wear espadrilles unless you are the one getting married and the ceremony is on a beach. Do not wear black in heat above twenty-five degrees unless the wedding is in the evening and indoors. Do not assume that 'smart casual' means you can abandon a collar. It does not.
