June weddings arrive with a single problem: you cannot predict the air. The ceremony may stand in full sun at two in the afternoon. The dinner may require a jacket by nine. A garden in Provence or a terrace in Copenhagen — the month promises warmth but rarely delivers consistency.

Acne Studios solves this through weight, not ornament. The house builds occasion wear from fabrics that breathe and shapes that hold their line in motion. What follows are four configurations, each calibrated to a different June scenario. All draw from current and archival pieces still circulating in resale. All assume you will be photographed and will need to move between rooms.

20°C, overcast, Northern Europe

Start with the double-breasted suit in heavyweight cotton twill. Acne Studios cuts this with a longer jacket than most houses — the hem sits below the hip, which reads formal without requiring a waistcoat. The fabric has structure but no sheen. It does not wrinkle in the way linen does, and it does not cling.

Underneath: a cotton poplin shirt, no tie. The collar should sit flat and open. Acne's shirting runs narrow through the shoulder, so the suit jacket frames it cleanly.

Shoes are black leather derbies with a rounded toe. Not the exaggerated bulbous shape from the early 2010s — the current iteration is more restrained. The sole is Goodyear-welted, which means you can stand on gravel or stone without concern.

No pocket square. No lapel pin. The suit does the work.

25°C, intermittent sun, garden ceremony

The unstructured blazer in wool-mohair becomes the anchor. Acne Studios makes this in a pale grey that shifts slightly under changing light — it reads cooler than beige, warmer than dove. The fabric has a dry hand, almost chalky. No lining, minimal canvas in the chest. It folds into a garment bag without protest.

Pair it with wide-leg trousers in cotton drill, not from the same cloth. A slight break in tone — the trousers one shade darker — creates separation without introducing pattern. The rise is high, which allows the shirt to stay tucked through hours of sitting.

The shirt: cotton voile, long-sleeved, worn with cuffs undone. White or ecru, never blue. Acne's voile has enough body to avoid transparency, but it moves.

Footwear: suede loafers in tobacco or sand. The vamp should be unlined. Socks are optional if the trousers break at the ankle. If you wear them, match the trouser, not the shoe.

28°C, full sun, Riviera or equivalent

This is where most men fail. They reach for linen and arrive wrinkled by the apéritif. Acne Studios offers an alternative: the oversized shirt in cotton-silk poplin, worn untucked over tailored shorts in tropical wool.

The shirt is not a camp collar. It is a standard point collar, sized up one increment so the shoulder seam drops two centimetres past your natural shoulder. The sleeves hit mid-forearm when you roll them once. The fabric has a faint lustre from the silk content, but it remains opaque. It will crease, but the creases fall in soft folds rather than hard lines.

The shorts end just above the knee. Acne cuts these with a flat front and a single pleat, which gives room through the thigh without volume. The waistband sits at the natural waist, not the hips. A tonal belt in woven leather, no visible hardware.

Shoes: canvas espadrilles or leather sandals. Acne's sandals use a single wide strap across the forefoot and a buckled ankle strap. The footbed is cork. They look deliberate, not resort-casual.

No watch. No sunglasses hanging from the shirt. A linen pocket square in white, folded into a square and placed in the shirt pocket, if the shirt has one.

18°C, evening, stone terrace

The temperature has dropped. You need a jacket, but not the one you wore to the ceremony.

Acne Studios' overshirt in bonded cotton becomes the third layer. It is cut like a shirt but constructed like a jacket — double-layered fabric, reinforced at the elbows and shoulders, heavy enough to block wind. The fit is boxy. It does not hug the body. Wear it over a merino crewneck in charcoal or navy.

Trousers: the same wide-leg cotton drill from the afternoon, or switch to a wool gabardine if you planned ahead. The gabardine has more weight and reads slightly more formal as the light fades.

Boots. Specifically, Acne's Chelsea boot in black leather with a stacked leather sole. The shaft is higher than most Chelsea boots — it hits mid-calf — which changes the proportion when worn with a wider trouser. The elastic gusset is tonal, nearly invisible.

A scarf is acceptable now. Lightweight wool or cashmere, worn loose, not knotted.

What not to do

Do not wear the same shoes from ceremony to dinner unless they are black leather. Do not introduce a tie after sunset if you did not wear one during the day. Do not carry a tote bag — if you need to bring something, use a flat leather portfolio that fits under your arm.

Do not match your pocket square to your shirt. Do not wear a suit in a technical fabric. Do not assume "smart casual" means chinos and a blazer — it means a considered outfit that does not rely on a tie to signal effort.

And do not wear shorts to a wedding unless the invitation specifies the dress code and the ceremony occurs before four in the afternoon. Even then, question it.
